Born on April 9, 1940, in Monroe, NC, to the late Irene Sadler and Wilton R. Meaders Sr., Wilton dedicated his life to serving God, his family, and his community. He was a faithful and active member of Mt. Olive Missionary Baptist Church in Huntersville, NC, Liberation Ministries in Charlotte, NC, and Union Chapel Missionary Baptist Church in Monroe, NC. His love for God was evident in all he did—through his words, his actions, and the way he uplifted those around him. As a deacon and mentor, he provided guidance, encouragement, and unwavering support to many.
Wilton was a man of many talents. In his early years, he worked with Washington Gas and Electric in Alexandria, VA, before embarking on a new venture with Charlotte Concrete Pipe. He later served as a chemical operator and supervisor at Ciba-Geigy Corporation. After semi-retiring, he continued serving his community as a bus monitor for the Mecklenburg School System where he retired.
Wilton enjoyed traveling and cruising, always finding joy in new experiences. He had a great sense of humor, loved telling jokes, and enjoyed playfully teasing those around him. A passionate singer, he found fulfillment as a member of the Mt. Olive men’s choir. His favorite pastime was bowling, and he participated in several leagues. He was an avid sports fan, cheering for the Carolina Panthers and the Washington Commanders. He also loved ACC basketball, with UNCC being his favorite college team.
Wilton’s greatest joy was his family and friends. He was a devoted husband, father, grandfather, great-grandfather, brother, uncle, and mentor. He led with love, faith, and a warm heart, bringing light and laughter wherever he went. His kindness and generosity touched countless lives.
