Triston Nivens Obituary

Triston James Nivens

July 23, 2000 – July 20, 2026

With broken hearts, we share the unexpected passing of Triston James Nivens, who passed away on Monday, July 20, 2026, in Iron Station, North Carolina, at the age of 25.

Born on July 23, 2000, in Charlotte, North Carolina, Triston was raised in the Charlotte area and made his home in Iron Station with his family.

If you knew Triston, you knew he had a passion for creativity. He was a talented barber who loved helping people look and feel their best, and music was one of his greatest outlets. As a rap artist, he wrote and recorded songs that reflected his life, his experiences, and his dreams. Whether he was behind the barber chair, in the studio, or spending time with family, he brought his own style and energy wherever he went. He also had a well-known love for sneakers and took great pride in his collection.

More than anything, Triston was a devoted husband and a proud girl dad. His greatest joy was his family, and his daughters were the center of his world. They were the reason behind his biggest smiles and his motivation to keep pushing forward.

Triston is survived by his beloved wife, Mercedez Starr Nivens; his cherished daughters, Aribella Green (9), Ava Nivens (4), and Alaiya Nivens (4); his mother, Tracy Lorraine Crouch, and her husband, Jamie Crouch; his father, James Wiley Nivens III; his brother, David Teague (33), David's wife, Haleigh, and their son, Jayden Teague (11). He also shared an unbreakable bond with his cousin, Matthew Teague, who was more like a brother, and Matthew's son, Coty.

He also leaves behind a large and loving extended family, including grandparents, brothers- and sisters-in-law, aunts, uncles, cousins, nieces, nephews, and countless friends who became family along the way.

Although his life was far too short, the memories he created, the music he left behind, the lives he touched, and the love he gave will continue to live on. His laugh, his loyalty, his determination, and, above all, his love for his daughters are the legacy he leaves behind.

A private Celebration of Life will be held with family during Labor Day weekend 2026.
