Richard Lee Lefler, 77, of Kannapolis, NC, went home to be with our Lord and Savior on Friday, January 19, 2024, with his family and friends by his side.
Richard was born on February 27, 1946 to Huland and Bertie Lefler in Concord, NC who proceeded him in death. Also proceeding him in death was his son Ricky Lefler, sister Francis Stallings, and brother Larry Lefler.
After graduating from Hartsell School, Richard signed with the Baltimore Orioles as a pitcher. After his professional career, he continued his love for the game while playing for multiple local softball teams. In 2016, he was inducted into the Cabarrus County Sports Hall of Fame.
Richard’s faith in God led him to become very active in the church community where he had the opportunity to share and lead others to Christ. In retirement, he enjoyed spending time with his children, playing golf, watching local high school teams play ball, and cheering on the Carolina Tarheels.
Richard is survived by his three children Brittany, Tiffany and Garrett Lefler, as well as his sister-in-law Betty Lefler, nephew Jeff Lefler, and nieces Terri Cochran, Janice Carpenter, and Kathy Stallings.
Services will be held on Saturday, January 27, 2024 at Crown Pointe Baptist Church, 703 Tennessee Street, Kannapolis, NC 28083. Receiving of friends will begin at 1:00pm with the service at 2:00pm followed by a graveside service at West Concord Cemetery. In Lieu of flowers, the family requests donations be made to Seasons of Giving, a local organization that provides care, comfort, and companionship to seniors living independently in need.
The Lefler Family have entrusted arrangements to Roseboro's Mortuary & Crematory.
