Richard Arthur Irby, 73 passed away Tuesday, February 3, 2026.

Richard "Rick" Arthur Irby, 73, of Charlotte, NC was born in Richmond, VA, on May 24, 1952, to Arthur Samuel Irby and Ena Mae Moneteith. He was preceded in death by brother, William "Sammy" Samuel Irby and sister Sandra Leigh Irby. He is survived by his brother Robert "Bob" McAlpine,  sisters Suzanne Irby and Sheila Frederiksen, two sons Samuel Irby and Justin Irby, two grandsons Cash Irby and Christopher Stevenson, several nieces, nephews, and great-nieces and nephews. Rick graduated from Garinger High School in Charlotte, NC. He earned his degree in computer programming at Central Piedmont. He enjoyed camping, fishing, and hiking. During his spare time he built model sailboats. He found comfort in listening to the Allman Brothers Band and took great interest in American history. In lieu of flowers and in memory of Rick, please consider donating a book to your local senior center or retirement community.

A Service will be held at Resurrection Church, 2940 Commonwealth Road, Charlotte, NC 28205 on Sunday, March 1, at 4 PM.
