CHARLOTTE, NORHT CAROLINA
December 3, 1963 - February 7, 2025
Peter Davis was born on December 3, 1963 in Newport News, VA. He departed this earthly life for his eternal resting place on February 7, 2025.
Peter was the fifth of seven children born to the late Charlie Mae Davis. Peter’s mom passed when he was just a boy, so Peter and his siblings were raised by their loving Aunt Josephine and Uncle Thomas Roberts who lived in Boston, MA.
Peter graduated from Boston English High School. He was a jack of all trades. Peter worked at Brigham & Women’s hospital for many years, the Museum of Fine Arts for years, and then got his Commercial Driver’s License (CDL) and worked for Boston Coach, Boston Public School bus companies, Scholastics and a host of other trucking/transportation companies. Although he could do absolutely anything, driving was his profession and passion.
While in high school, Peter had an after school job at the Lying In Women’s hospital in the cafeteria. God, in His infinite wisdom, saw fit to introduce him to his best friend, and soul mate, Geneva who happened to work there after school as well. Thus began a fourty-three year journey of endless adventures, marriage, and family. They traveled the world together and were inseparable. Peter and Geneva were blessed with two children, Gigi and Pete, and five grandchildren, Layla, Hasani, Hendrix, MailiRose and Meila-Sky.
In 1996, the family relocated from Boston to Charlotte, NC where Geneva had accepted a job offer. It is there that Peter and Geneva continued to build a beautiful life with friends, family and community. Peter was affectionately known as “the Mayor” because he helped everybody and connected everyone. He was a confidante to many, and had an open door for advice and comfort. He also loved to have fun! Whether it was playing music for someone’s party or throwing his own – he was always up for a good time. Cooking, eating and feeding others were also top of his list.
Peter was preceded in death by his parents, and his brother Joseph “Man” Davis III.
Peter leaves behind his loving wife, Geneva, his daughter, Gigi, his son Peter (Little Pete), his granddaughters, Layla, MailiRose and Meila-Sky, his grandsons, Hasani and Hendrix, his mother-in-law, Jean, his sister-in-law Marva, his sisters Ernestine, Jacqueline, Charlotte, Hope, and Joyce, his brother Gary, a host of in-laws, nieces, nephews, cousins, other relatives, friends and dear neighbors.
Peter’s big heart, kind spirit, love and faith will live on in the hearts of all who knew him. He never met a stranger.
A Funeral to Celebrate the Life of Peter will be held on Saturday, February 22, 2025 at Roseboro's Mortuary & Crematory, 4300 Statesville Rd, Charlotte, NC 28269. Visitation will begin at 2:00 PM and Funeral service will start at 3:00 PM.
