Kai Jua Hall was born on April 24, 2001, in Greensboro, North Carolina to Ericka N. Gardner and Kai D. Hall-Watts. Kai is the eldest of one sibling Alana Autumn Conyers.
At an early age, Kai expressed a strong interest and great talent in football as a tight end and a full back. Kai was educated in the Charlotte-Mecklenburg County School System and earned his high school diploma from West Charlotte High School in 2019. Kai’s amazing academic intellect earned him a full scholarship to Livingstone College.
A natural-born comedian and truth-teller, Kai was the best big brother ever and absolutely adored his little sister. He will always be remembered for the charismatic, articulate way that he moved in the world. Kai was a protector, a foodie, and a secret cook! Like many of us, Kai struggled mightily with his mental well-being, but his indomitable spirit has taught us that there is great honor in trying again. We pray that you all will go forward in championing the cause of mental health reform for young Black men and underserved communities in the name of our beloved Kai Jua Hall.
At the age of 21, Kai welcomed his firstborn son, Ian Hayes Hall on November 17, 2022, with Ms. Jatira Dunlap.
Kai Jua Hall tragically departed this life on Tuesday, October 10, 2023, in Charlotte, NC.
He was preceded in death by his maternal grandmother, Ms. Verna Gardner, and his maternal grandfather, Mr. Ronald E. Gardner.
