Carolyn (Fitzpatrick) O'Brien

Carolyn Theresa Fitzpatrick O’Brien of Charlotte was born on March 27, 1963, to Kathleen & Raymond Fitzpatrick in Smithtown, New York. 

As a small child, her father’s company transferred the family to Durham, NC where she attended elementary and junior high school.  While in early high school, Carrie’s family was transferred back to New York where she graduated in 1981 from Clarkstown North High School in New City, NY.  She attended State University of New York at Cortland.

In the late 1990’s, Carrie relocated to Charlotte, NC where she met her husband Michael L. O’Brien.    They married at St Thomas Aquinas Catholic church in Charlotte in June of 2001, where they are still members and welcomed their daughter Olivia Rose in December 2004.  

Carrie spent much of her career in the banking industry and retired from Bank of America in Charlotte in 2022.

Carrie loved spending time with her family and was a wonderful wife and mother.   The O’Brien dogs were very much part of the family and were included in all activities and vacations.    Carrie’s favorite places were the beach and their pool community at Davis Lake. 

She was preceded in death by her brother, Mark Raymond Fitzpatrick and her parents, Raymond Matthew Fitzpatrick & Kathleen Joan O’Grady Fitzpatrick.  

She leaves to cherish her memory, her loving spouse Mike and beautiful daughter Olivia.   She is also survived by her 3 loving sisters, Laura Fitzpatrick (Beth), Cathleen Fitzpatrick Hipps (Mark) & Claire Fitzpatrick.   Nieces Kathleen, Leanna & Hannah, and nephew Brendan.    Carrie has 12 surviving first cousins who have been so supportive in their prayers and love.    With her passing, Carrie is mourned by many other family and friends,  especially her lifelong friend,  Laura Farned Tan.

A Celebration of Life service will be held at St. Thomas Aquinas Catholic Church, 1400 Suther Rd, Charlotte, NC on Monday, October 9, 2023 at 2:00 p.m.
