Arthur McKinnon Obituary

Arthur Joseph McKinnon, a charismatic father, brother, friend, author and veteran, passed away in the early hours of the morning on June 3, 2022, at age 62. His enduring spirit propelled him through a valiant and courageous 3 ½-year battle with cancer.

Born in Fulton, New York on August 25, 1959, Art spent the majority of his childhood in New Jersey, before moving back to New York where he would graduate from Cato Meridian High School in 1977. Later, he enlisted in the U.S. Navy, which included tours aboard the USS Midway and USS Blue Ridge. He spent the last 12 years of his career at MSC Industrial Supply, where he was lucky to have a close-knit group of friends that often felt like family.

Art was always known for his lighthearted humor and for lifting the mood of those around him. A devout New York Giants, New York Mets, and Syracuse Orange fan, he could always be found rooting for his favorite teams and rocking his extensive collection of ball caps. Music was life to Art, who was an avid fan of the Canadian rock trio, Rush. His children learned Rush lyrics through osmosis.

He was predeceased by his mother, Donna Marie, and his sister, Mary Margaret. Art will be lovingly remembered by his three children, Donna (Chris) Silverman, Christian (Riva) and Wendy (Merrick) Pastore; his siblings, Susan (Larry) Masters, Robert, Charles, and Daniel; his nieces and nephews; as well as loving members of his extended family.  He will also be missed by the many friends he made through the years.

In lieu of a funeral service, a Celebration of Life will be held later this year. Donations in Art’s memory may be made to the Levine & Dickson Hospice House - Huntersville at https://www.hpccr.org/giving. His family is grateful for the wonderful care he received at such a beautiful facility.
