Cherryville, North Carolina
April 09, 1954 - August 01, 2025
Alan Lane Cannon passed away peacefully in his home on August 1, 2025.
Alan was born April 9, 1954, the youngest of 4 boys to the late Russell, Sr, and Mozelle Helderman Cannon. Following in the footsteps of his brothers, he grew up in Mount Holly, NC, where he was known for his mischievous nature. He shared fond memories of learning to swim in the creek, bringing home stray dogs, and avoiding school work.
In 1971, he met and married his love, Gwynn. Together they had 4 children. He was a devoted husband and father. They focused their lives on raising their children and serving the Lord. After 49 years of marriage, his beloved Gwynn was called home to Heaven.
While many struggle to find one love in their lives, following the death of his wife, Alan was fortunate to have an amazing friendship develop into a wonderful romance. In September of 2024, he married his beautiful Pam. During his illness, his Pam showered him with adoration and was the best caregiver to him.
On August 1, 2025, Alan took his last earthly breath and was welcomed into Jesus’s embrace.
In addition to his parents, Alan was predeceased by his wife Gwynn Cannon, son, Gary Cannon, brothers Russell Cannon and Bobby Cannon. He is survived by his wife, Pamela Anthony; children: Alan Cannon, Jr and companion Kim, Wendy and husband Chad Duvall, Casey Cannon; grandchildren Alan III and wife Olivia, Drew and companion Kylie, Zachary and companion Vonnie, Kolbey, Jaxson, Seth, and Lena.
The family would like to extend their heartfelt gratitude to all of his healthcare team through his illness, and especially to VIA Health Partners of Cleveland County, who worked to ensure his peaceful transition.
Alan cherished his church family at Covenant Church; donations in his memory may be made to further the church’s mission:
